Is to help and support families who have lost a loved one. We will educate families and the importance of being prepared at the time of loss. We are committed to actively serve the community.
On the morning of November 14, 2012, Shaylyn Anela Pinoliar walked to school as she had done since kindergarten. At 7:32 a.m., while crossing the intersection of Browning Rd. and Summer Dr., the 12-year-old was tragically struck by a vehicle. In those harrowing moments, the Pinoliar family lost their precious Shay, leaving them to grapple with an unimaginable wave of grief.
In the wake of this devastating loss, the community rallied around the Pinoliars, offering unwavering support. Friends, family, and even strangers came together to uplift the family, mirroring Shay's own spirit of encouragement she shared with her softball teammates.
Shay was a talented softball player, beloved by her peers. She often inspired her teammates with her motto: “It doesn’t matter whether we win or lose, but that we try our best.”
In response to Shay's passing, her family advocated for improved safety measures at the intersection, which is located near two schools. While a crosswalk and stoplight were eventually added, the family felt more needed to be done.
In 2014, Shay's parents, Elsa and Fegimar Pinoliar, established SHAY. (Spreading Help Around You) to honor their daughter’s memory. The organization has two missions: to support families who have lost loved ones and to promote pedestrian safety.
This initiative is their way of giving back to the community that embraced them during their darkest days.
